Simply put, it is said that colour can be an ‘element of visual language’- a form of non verbal communication and can be used to establish a “form” of identity.
( H-m-m how interesting!!!)
Angela appears to be drawn to the colour p u r p l e. So I (mum) decided to experiment using the idea in the above statement.
RESULT……just love when something insignificant as a touch of colour deliberately concocted brings about comments, encounters, passing connectedness for Angela and her support person while out and about community-.
SO COLOUR REALLY CAN BE AN ELEMENT OR A FORM OF COMMUNICATION AND LANGUAGE

“Non verbal communication is the most powerful form of communication.” My communication is diverse, non verbal, but vocal.
My Mum says, “Choice of colour, clothing, hairstyles and other factors affecting appearance, also includes non verbal communication.”
Over the years, we basically use any and every means to help Angela makes sense of her environment plus give credence to all her attempts of vocalising, making sounds and expressing herself.
WHATEVER WORKS
